| Last night I sang at the nursing home's Valentine's Day Concert(dance), and there was a 1940's theme. Afterwards, I had an interesting photo shoot....
Happy Valentine's Day!!! God bless! ~Jodie

| Hi! it's been sooooo long yet again...
Everything is going really well...I'll catch you up. I gave my lecture at UK on Jan. 9th, and it was a crazy yet amazing experience. I got there and walked through the building over to where the Art Museum is, and everyone was standing outside the doors. The fire alarm was going off in the museum. A minute later, there were police and firemen running through the building yelling for everyone to get out. Soooo...we went outside and waited for almost twenty minutes. There were field trip children everywhere. Chaos. A few of the museum ladies were telling me that this happens from time to time, and that sometimes the janitors sneak to the basement for a smoke, and they set off the museum alarms above. Finally, they told us we could go back inside. We got in the museum, but the alarm was still going off. I was getting afraid that they were going to tell me that I would have to speak with that ridiculous thing going. I made my way upstairs and waited close to the Rembrandt I was to speak about. A handful of people began to gather around me. The museum workers were still running around going nuts! There was supposed to be a big important meeting in the room close to where I was, and they had important looking people who had flown in for it. They were scrambling to get chairs and tables into that room. Soon, a lady ran up to me and started hysterically rambling to me that Sandra, the woman who was supposed to introduce me had fallen on the stairs and hit her head and that she was bleeding everywhere and needed to get to the hospital for stitches and that I needed to just introduce myself and go! It was just then noon, and remembering all the trouble I had finding a place to park, I wondered if I should wait a few minutes to start. But no, she said to go, and go I did. By time I finished my lecture, there were about 15 or so people standing around who had arrived a ways into my talk. I got to talk to them casually about my main points and answered questions. I loved that part especially. It was fun watching everyone get close to the little etching afterwards to, looking for details I told them about. I got to go out to lunch with Prof Mellor and Caleb on the art department's pocket at a little Turkish bistro. Yummy!
My art show has also come and gone. The reception was really fun. I sold one painting and I have several people interested in some of the others. I loved being downtown in a big building for my art. I consider my show a total success and good experience for future shows!
Well, I gotta head out. Horseback riding!!! God bless! ~Jodie :)

| Hello! I have started the last three weeks of classes for the semester, followed by one week of finals, and that's it for fall semester! I cannot believe that the end is already here. It has flown by. I have been working on my ginorumous Renaissance Art History paper on Rembrandt, and I finally turned it in last Monday. Tuesday I flew home for Thanksgiving, which was nice. Wednesday I fought through the masses of insane ladies in the grocery section of Walmart. After some diving and strategic moves with my shopping cart, my mom and I managed to get our hands on everything we needed for Thursday. We had a quieter Thanksgiving at home, just my parents and grandparents and me. Friday and Saturday were both started by trips to Panera Bread with my grandparents for breakfast. I love IC Mochas! :) Then both days contained some shopping, Christmas decorating and Christmas music and Christmas movies of course! I also got to see August Rush. It is a wonderful movie! I loved it...the music is absolutely wonderful! And it has Robin Williams and some cute kids in it. Sunday I flew back bright and early, had chinese food for lunch with Jackie and Lee, accompanied my jet-lagged roomie to pick up Trevorson from the airport, took a nap and then went to 608 (which was AMAZING yet again...never lets me down. God is doing amazing things through that service every week) with my wonderful Nate, followed by a trip to Red Robin. After the chinese food for lunch, all i wanted at Red Robin was french fries, lol. That was a healthy day I assure you. Jackie's art show reception is Friday(which is B-E-A-UTIFUL!) followed by Ian and Michaela's wedding party! I'm very excited! They're having it in an old huge house in downtown lexington, complete with a jazz band, dancing and AA (Asbury Appropriate) Moctails! Dancing is AA for this too, since we are celebrating a wedding. It's going to be a fun night. And my parents are coming in on Thursday for Jackie's art reception, and they'll be here saturday for Wilmore's Old Fashion Christmas, which my jazz vocal ensemble is singing at. Good times! Then choir christmas concert is in lexington on Sunday afternoon. AND...MONDAY IS NATE'S RECITAL! I'm really excited for that too. I'm coming back early from Christmas break because...*drumroll*.....UK's art museum has asked me to lecture on the Rembrandt etching that they own at their Art at Noon series they have on the first Wednesday of every month. I've done research on Rembrandt all semester as part of my Renaissance art history class, and included their etching. It is on January 9th, so come if you can! I'm pretty excited. If you're still going to be out of town on Christmas break, I'm giving a similar lecture on this research on Dec. 5th 4:30-6:00pm in the board room of the library...they're catering in yummy christmas foods, so good food + me = worth coming out for. It's come and go, so if you want, you can come towards the end and just hear the last few(i'm next to last). Oh, one more thing! I have an internship one day a week next semester in Frankfort with the historical society, researching and curating artwork they get in. Woohoo! Hehehe! Sooo much going on! That's probably why I don't update this thing more often. Oh well....it hasn't been an entire month since my last post, lol...however, I'm pretty sure no one reads this thing anymore, haha. Goodnight and God bless! ~Jodie | | |
